Time for a change around here. It was getting kinda gloomy, so I added a dash of color. New header, a slight change in the background pattern -- viola! It's The Ward-O-Matic 3.0. What do you all think? You likies? Should I change anything else, or is it to your liking? Let me know; it's good to have feedback.
UPDATE: I've since made changes to the original "new" header, taking some of your suggestions to mind. Big thanks for the feedback! I'm much more happier with the revised header now. Here, take a look at both to compare (click on each to view larger):

Third time's a charm?
Better, eh? Big thanks to wifey Andrea for her suggestions, too. She's got a great eye for things and is honest with me when something doesn't look right. I like to call her my "secret weapon."
Thanks again, guys!
Cool!!!
ReplyDeletehmmm, i really want "WARDOMATIC" to pop out. could you desaturate the text underneath it a bit?
ReplyDeleteJust a suggetion :)
I like it! Nice colour and great layout. Congrats on your being published too!
ReplyDeleteI really like it - very bright and cheerful and the header is great. One thing I'd say: maybe the links need a different colour now? :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with jenny, a little less contrast on the tagline. Other than that, I like. Fun, love the color. Where can I order a Ward-O-Matic t-shirt?
ReplyDeletei likie! sign me up for that t-shirt, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions, guys. I've already changed the link colors, visited, etc. I want to change the little icons they have for each post title and link (the arrow icon) -- but not sure what to change it to, or maybe just change the color of it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the header, I agree -- my subhead IS too strong. I'll reduce the size and I'll try out the color I used for "the" for the border. Oh, and I think I'll thin the border a bit. Seems to be too strong.
Thanks, guys!
PS: T-shirts? Well, that has been on my mind for some time now. Would anyone else be interested in some Ward-O-Matic t-shirts?
Totally cool! And seems like a great reflection of you! I'd get a tshirt! :-)Is that weird to have folks rocking around in Ward-o-Matic shirts that you've never met?
ReplyDeleteCan you post the three banners on top of each other in a post so that we might all compare and contrast?
ReplyDeleteI obviously have seen 2.0 but I never saw 1.0.
Just a thought, a suggestion - a dream.
I'd pay for a t-shirt, punk.
ReplyDeleteEven if you wouldn't give it to me for free.
nice new look.
ReplyDeletegreat vibe.
j.
I'd totally get a Ward-o-Matic t-shirt! I'm still waiting for THIS on a t-shirt too! Looks like you've got your work cut out for you, huh?
ReplyDeleteLove the new look, Ward. Any plans to go beta?
Not sure if this is the new or the new-new, but it looks good. Me likey. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great.
ReplyDeleteIts great! The colors are really cool and we love the "self portrait"!
ReplyDeleteMiranda and Dad
i like it
ReplyDeleteyesyes! I do like the changes. love how you tweaked the outline. I still want the middle 'o' to be a different color. or something. I dunno. looks fantastic, though. I don't know how much of a 'secret weapon' I am but I try to be honest. even though the looks you sometime give me after my well-intended 'honest' remarks are enough to make me want to lie (haha).
ReplyDeleteseriously, though. it's good.
Hey Ward, I like it a lot now...
ReplyDeleteI was going to harp about the tagline size and font last night, but I saw that someone else had, and I was in a hurry to get out the door.
Anyway, it looks SO MUCH BETTER after you (and your secret weapon...haha) doctored it. I love it. I Love the "Ward-O-Matic" typography and colors, and I love the drawing of you...only...(don't kill me) the self-portrait makes you look a little hunched-over, or hunch back or something. Why don't you have your body go diagonal to the corner, that way it will look like you're leaning over and not "hunched" into the corner. I guess what I'm trying to say is it makes you look physically "boxed in", as is.
I hope this comes off as helpful and not picky. I just like seeing you at your best. What can I say, I'm a fan!
I absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat illustration. And non-aligned, multi-colored letters are unbeatable.
It got better with each revision too.
Justin, thanks for your comments, and I agree with you -- I do have a 'Quasimoto' effect going on with me being hunched over, but I wanted that. Just something that I thought would add character to the drawing. Sometimes I feel like a hunchback when I work and I just wanted to poke fun at that. While smiling, of course.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all the nice comments and suggestions, guys!

ReplyDeleteThis is great, Ward. Real warm and inviting.
ReplyDelete我喜欢它 too!
ReplyDeleteVery pleasing to the eye indeed! This inspires me to redo mine.
Love the new look. The second header's blue O in the middle was really freakish. Glad you changed it. I love your artwork. Wish I had time to read through your whole blog to see if you have any tutorials.... I love art, but alas, have no time for it... :(
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeletegreat new banner Ward. I like it!
