Illustration Friday: Jazz

I can't tell you how excited I was to do this week's Illustration Friday theme. Jazz holds a very special place in my heart as Andrea and I both started listening to it during our first year dating. Lady Day, Ella, Louie, Bird and Monk became our new friends that rookie year, and as I took a Jazz History class in college, it further solidified my love for the artform.

Jazz is honest and pure. There's so much more I could write about it, but that would take a small eternity, and I wouldn't want to bore the socks off my entire audience. That is, if I haven't already.

  13. I love this aptly titled "Jazz" artwork.

The style and composition does evoke a sense of fluidity and improvisional transition among the musicians (from the smooth blending of lines and colours among the musicians) as in the true jazz artform.

  18. w00t!

I would say more, but with 21 other people blowing you up I'm afraid your head may not fit through your computer room doorway any longer.

Long live the pen! Or Chalk... or whatever.

  21. Thanks AlixC, I try my best to find a style that's unique, and sometimes that's hard to do. I'm glad you like Ava's work as I'm her no. 1 fan. I try not to force art and drawing on her, so as not to make her sick of it. Thanks for stopping by and look forward to hearing more from you. Good luck in school!
