FTW! WTF?

FTW! WTF?

Just an idea I had hanging out in the confines of my brain. For the record, I had no idea what "FTW" meant until several months ago. And really, I thought it was just a funny way to say "WTF" but backwards. Oh, nevermind.

  1. I always found FTW to be a funny initialism. Not only because of the WTF?FTW palindrome (see my t-shirt) but because for biker gangs I think FTW means something completely different than For The Win. I've heard it means F*** The World, although some say it means Forever Two Wheels.

  2. Nice image, Ward. I even see a little Luc Latulippe inspiration in there. I have to say though, it's a bit hard to read "FTW" and "WTF" with the distracting brown area overlapping in the middle. Cool idea, but it's cramped here. LOVE ALL YOUR COLORS THOUGH!!!

  3. I always thought it was Eff the World, although I am not a biker. Just a misanthrope I guess. Even now that I know that most people use it to mean For The Win, in my head I still hear Eff the world. My head can be a filthy place.

I'm in the process of reviewing the Michael Phelps book for my blog Pink Me, and I had to drop in to say how much I like those illustrations. They fit the text SO well. Congratulations on a terrific job!

  4. Justin, I've now changed that middle section, between the word balloons. You're not the only one who's mentioned that -- I then couldn't stop thinking about it!

YNL -- thank you for the very nice review! Glad you liked my work. It was a lot of fun working on the book.

  5. I did something like that a while ago too, I love how simple you kept it and really focus on the concept. my version - a slight bit more messy than yours ;)
