Our only Snow Day

It doesn't snow much here in Atlanta, maybe once a year. Twice if we're nice. This winter was pretty lame, with the one and only "snow day" for us back in the early morning of February 13th. It was gone in about two hours once the sun got to it. Oh well. I took a couple of shots of Ava playing in the "snow." It was only about 1/2 inch. Yipee. At least Ava was having fun.

Anticipation.

Crazy kid. I didn't think that she would actually touch the wood beam with her tongue. But she told me that she wanted to see what snow tasted like. Cotton candy, right?

It doesn't take much to make this girl happy.

Here, Ava is coming up to me and saying "SNOW HANDS!" in a silly voice.

Now, on to SPRING! Bring it on!

  1. soooo cuuute, especially the one where the two kids are looking out of the window from their warm house. it looks like really cool and hip fairy tale about the southern fried kids who nver saw snow before!man, i have such great memories of snow days! my mom and i would listen to the radio before school and jump up and down and cheer and celebrate excitedly when we heard our school district named as one of the lucky "closed" ones. thanks for the great memory!i love your writing.

  3. I do too. I'm almost willing to take a trip up north just so the kids can experience tons of it first-hand.

  4. That pic of Ava bending over to taste the snow gave me a chuckle, Ward! Not to mention her finger-family gloves! You got one wacky girl...she must be so fun to come home to. And Ezra, too...

Nice pics of the snow...how 'bout a trade? I'll trade the 26 inches we got in NY a few weeks ago for that half inch right about now.
