My Oma

My Oma, Merle Bryant, passed away last night.

This is me with Oma at her 85th birthday party back in February. I miss her vibrancy, her warmth, her vigor for life already. She was a true matriarch and I loved her dearly.

  6. I'm deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your Oma.

I just read about Ronnie del Carmen's father's passing away and now your Oma...wow.

Hope you keep smiling knowing that she's quite possibly looking at you now. I'm sure she was very proud of all that you've accomplished.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

  8. Ward, Im so sorry. She was really such a grand lady, and I enjoyed the few times I visited with her. Always including us in-laws in the mix. I know she will be missed.

  10. I'm so sorry Ward--my thoughts are with you & yours.

  11. My prayers and thoughts are with you and the whole family.

This past weekend, our family matriarch, Big Salley, got to finally meet her great grandson. Losing someone who is such a strong force in your life... It just sucks. What else can you say??

  12. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your Oma. In this picture, Ezra looks a lot like her. Her spirit lives on.

  13. Thank you all for your very nice comments. Oma was quite a character and lived life to the hilt. I loved that about her. The funeral was yesterday (Monday) and to get back to work today is a hard switching of gears, but I'll manage. Life goes on.

And yes, Mad Ethel -- Oma thought Ezra was a hoot. He does have some of her zest for life in his chromosones, that's for sure.

  14. A bit late on this, but so sorry to hear about your loss, Ward. You and your family are in my thoughts. Her exuberance and zest for life really come through in the photos that you posted on flickr; she seems like the type of person who could light up any room. I'm sure she'll be plenty missed by all who knew her.

  15. You have my sincerest sympathies. I was very close to my grandmother and it was tough when she passed away.

  16. And I'm glad she got to know her
