This is The Ward-O-Matic

So, I know what you're thinking: another stinkin' blog??? But I figured, hey- since everybody's doing it, why not me? I've got some interesting things to say about the world I see around me, I'm sure that somebody's bound to be interested in reading about what I have to say, right? Well, that remains to be seen, but I'm willing to take the chance. So here goes...

This is The Ward-O-Matic, an account of art, animation, music, movies, books, design, illustration, and the aesthetics of modern culture as viewed by me, Ward Jenkins, an animation director here in Atlanta, Georgia. I'll focus on what interests me, what influences me. I also plan on focusing on the animation community here in this town, as I feel that there's not enough exposure in that regards. Like most cities I've found, the local animation establishment is a very close-knit group, not quite unlike a "family" of sorts. Even in a smaller animation city like Atlanta, however, this family often preys victim to weak communications, so with this blog, I hope to alleviate that problem.

Another arena I plan on focusing on is my family. I know that most blogs are either one of two things: personal or news/informative. I don't see the two mixing that much, (at least the ones that I read) so I want to try something different here by incorporating these two together. Because the way I see it, my family plays a big factor in what influences me and plus, they are aesthetically pleasing to my eye. Biased, yes, but afterall, this is my blog.

Things that interest and influence me. What interests and influences you? I'd like to know, and I'd like to showcase it here. Please feel free to contact me here at the Ward-O-Matic and let me know what you dig.

  1. There should be a choice for you to post as "Anonymous," without getting a blog started. Sorry about the confusion! And thanks for the kudos. I'm excited about this. Hope it doesn't get too boring for you all. That'd be a great sin for me.

  6. as mrs. ward-o-matic, I feel cheated out of being (at the very least) the second one to post here on the historic debut of this lovely bloggedy-blogger...! especially since I have endured the 2am previews and endless conversations regarding the 'birth' of the 'ward-o-matic'...! anyhoo. I'm all up in it and about it... behind you all the way... can't wait to add it to my bookmarks section. it'll be the first one I check each day! promise! looking forward to seeing where you go with it, love.

  8. Sorry, Robert, but we only deal with REAL ART, not silly comics.

Ha ha, I can't keep a straight face with that-- that's great, thanks for the link, buddy-boy.

  9. A METEOR THAT ENTERED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE AND THAT WOULD POSSIBLY WREAK HAVOC ON EARTH WAS BROKEN INTO PIECES AND RENDERED INEFFECTIVE BY A U F O BEFORE IT HIT. THE INCIDENT WHICH COULD BE CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT EVENTS IN HISTORY OF MANKIND, WAS WITNESSED BY A TOTAL OF 6 DIFFERENT AIRLINER CREWS (4 IN THE AIR, 2 FROM THE GROUND) AND SEVERAL PEOPLE FROM THE GROUND AND WAS FILMED BY A NAVY SEAL CAMERA. THIS HISTORICAL EVENT WHICH DISCLOSES THE REALITY OF THE EXISTENCE OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS BY THE UFO RESEARCH CENTER FOR 35 YEARS. DRAWINGS. ANIMATIONS, VIDEO FOOTAGE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST. THE DETAILS ABOUT THE INCIDENT, WRITTEN TESTIMONIES BY PILOTS AND THE OTHER WITNESSES INVOLVED, AND THE ANALYSIS OF THIS INCIDENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:

We spotted a mass of light moving from West due East. Originally, we couldn't understand what it was. As we were watching its movements we thought that it might be an asteroid. But then, taking our previous observation into account, we thought that a shooting asteroid would dissolve in atmosphere in 1-2 seconds. As time passed, we noticed that the movement of this mass of light was quite slower and the mass was too enormous to be an asteroid. It flew away in a straight direction of West-East in a minute.

When it got closer to 12 o'clock, we realized that it's quite unlikely for this thing to be an asteroid. From the reddish colour emerging from it, we thought that it might be an airplane in some state of emergency or even about to crash . When it came to the position 12 o'clock, we saw a mass of red light in front of it, small light formations stretching back behind it and one more blinking light on its rear edge as if it were the beacon of an airplane. This thing was definitely not an airplane or an asteroid. It was something like glowing light formations moving together in a bigger mass of light. When it came to 1-2 o'clock position, the mass of light disappeared and the small bright formations moved away. Then they dissolved casting lights. In 5 minutes we saw the capsule the object left behind and were able to follow it down until it landed on the beach below. We notified the Navy SEAL team in the Gupta Bay and they surrounded the capsule. The door on the slid slowly aside and a carbon unit stepped out onto the sand and said, "Hi, I'm a Widgetathingy Adaptive Realtime Drawer. Just call me WARD. Take me to the Jenkins' residence, please." That was 35 years ago. Until this day we have not been able to get rid of it.

  10. Dude...you have some seriously freaky people commenting in your blog. The sad part? You're related to them all.

Heh. Might as well bring it full circle.

Me? I'm the Wardman's sister, who has begged to remain anonymous...hehehe. No really, the official name is Amy. I have my own little piece of the online realm, but my mastery is not art...its fanfiction. Alias fanfiction to be specific. Thereabouts, my handle is hijinx.

Now, back to fluffing up the bro's ego...like it NEEDS it! Obviously, sarcasm runs rampant in the family, as well as freakiness.

Love you, bro. Can't wait to tap into that trippin' the light fantastico noggin of yours. And ooooo!! You've already reviewed "The Incredibles" -- you are SO my hero now. Me and the Yankee fam will be hitting the cineplex this weekend, hopefully *crosses fingers*

    Peace out...

    Amy (the Sis-O-Matic aka hijinx)

  13. (Oops, goofed there.) Thanks, Charles - I do plan on keeping this blog very active. I also plan on putting up more of my doodles and such. (Yes, that is a fairly accurate self-portrait, although I'm not so green. Thanks for noticing.) The layout is one of several templates they give you here at Blogger.com, but I did tweak some of the code so that the type will always be Helvetica. Just looks better. Thank you again for checking in and hope I don't disappoint.

  14. Hey Junior;
45 shopping days 'till Christmas, and it just occurred to me that your little juniorettes won't ever know the unending joy of spending the better part of two months pouring over a Sears Christmas Wishbook, page by page. Internet shopping, my big butt!
Yeah, I sound like a bitter old man, so what?
(of course, most of the "unending joy" was nullified by the harsh reality that you weren't gonna get half the toys ya wanted, but that's another story for another time...)
