Late night working

Good grief, look at the time. Yes, it is 5:30 in the morning. I've been up all night working. Sometimes there'll be jobs where the deadline is incredibly pressing and you have no choice but to work like a dog to get that one particular scene done. Ah, the glamorous life of an animation director. Are you sure you kids want to get into this line of work? If you do, then expect nights like this. It's almost second-nature to me now. Especially when it comes to broadcast animation, as the deadlines tend to be even more pressing than say, agency or commercial jobs. Broadcast is pretty much a quick-turnaround business. These deadlines can work for you sometimes, as the client is not so willing to make any last-minute changes. Well, not as many changes anyway.

Oh well, I've got to get back to it. I've got to get this scene done to pass off to my inker later on this morning. Fun!

  2. I hear you man. It's the same feeling I get being an illustration major. Man those professors are pushy!

At least I'm not getting into accounting.

  3. Drat! Sorry to hear that. I'm sure there are a ton of other things you'd rather be doing. If it makes you feel any better, I would bring you muffins for breakfast... if it weren't for that 10+ hour drive... and for the fact that I don't have any muffins...
Hope you have a great weekend. :)

  4. Oh, I definitely love my job. I actually don't mind pulling the all-nighters because I'm drawing the whole time. You can't beat that. Even when most of it is mundane inbetweens, I enjoy that too. (It's a sickness, I guess.) For all those who missed out on my post about who I am, you can check it out HERE. In it, I talk about my background and how I got into animation. I think I'll have a permanent link to it on the main page.

Oh, and thanks for your comments, guys. I got the scene done and handed it off to my buddy Ron to ink today. This'll be for a commerical directed by my co-worker Dave Strandquest. Look for it soon.

  5. It's been a while since I've pulled an all-nighter doing ANYTHING... Of course, I know that loving what you do makes it more worthwhile. Can't wait to see it!
